SEPTEMBER
Three very detailed murals have been painted on traffic light utility boxes along Pacific Avenue in the Wrigley neighborhood of Long Beach. Each side of the box is one of the banners designed earlier this year for that street. The community liked them very much and wanted to display a more permanent version.

The Wrigley Village street banners, designed as part of a community based public art project, are up along Pacific Avenue in Long Beach.

JUNE
The following food science information art, both educational and scientifically correct, were featured in the Top Chef Masters “Blinded Me With Science” Episode, aired on June 1. Designed and edited the recently published book(let) of Iridescent’s take home science and engineering experiments for kids, written by Tara Chklovski and Iridescent.
The cover is a drawing of the How Things Work Mural painted in Iridescent’s first LA science studio in downtown.
(life of) bird prints
Three bird illustrations are hanging at Galeria Tonantzin in San Juan Bautista, California. The other four will join them on July 9th, when Ioana Urma goes up for an artist reception.
The drawings, artwork for the Build a Bird iPhone app to be released in July, show the birds engaged in a variety of life-sustaining activities: breeding and nesting; searching for food and feeding; flying in various positions (gliding, landing, taking-off, diving, soaring); roosting, fighting, observing and more!
The client was the K-12 science and engineering educational non-profit Iridescent in collaboration with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The app developer was I-Site.

“Process: The Art of Illustrating Science Concepts” was exhibited at Iridescent’s NY Science Studio Launch. The US Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, Chief of Naval Research Rear Adm. Nevin Carr, and US Congressman Jose Serrano attended.
OCTOBER
The newly constructed Art House was installed at the Santa Clarita Festival of the Arts. It can assembled/disassembled very quickly and is easy to transport.
art exhibit, romania
Three watercolors were exhibited in a group show in Bucharest, Romania, at the Galeria "Căminul Artei", located in the historic center of the capital. Articles about the show appeared in România Liberă, Cotidianul, and a post was featured in Omnigraphies.

The 17’ x 20’ “How Things Work” Science & Engineering Mural opened to the public during Iridescent’s (Downtown) LA Science Studio Launch, attended by 600-700 people (400+ kids). Articles about the studio opening appeared in the LA Times, PR Newswire, and on the US Navy website.
blankspaces exhibit
“Right Side, Left Side, Inside, Outside” solo-exhibit hung at Blankspaces. “Right Side” (of the brain) refers to science concepts art; “Left Side” refers to the free-flowing watercolors.

SEPTEMBER
The “Flowers Giving Birth” painting was enlarged and exhibited poster-size in a bus transit center as part of the Santa Clarita’s Art Stop Project.
caricat-ura
One of the founders of Cațavencu wrote an article about CaricatURA/Ă. This interactive art project was launched on the 20th anniversary of the fall of communism, December 2009. Academia Cațavencu is the national Romanian political satire paper.
AUGUST
Twenty watercolor prints were hung at the The MIT Club of Southern California Annual Brunch at the City Club on the 54th floor of the World Trade Center on Bunker Hill, Downtown LA. A few were donated and handed out as awards.
