These science and engineering educational T-shirts and information graphics, designed for the educational non-profits Iridescent and KidWind, have been created for the purpose of inspiring (many inner-city) kids into (much needed) careers in science and technology.
The topics have been: electricity, the MRI process, Reynold’s number & animal locomotion, wind energy, children-made science projects, technovation (computer programming + business). The Reynold’s number & animal locomotion poster was a semifinalist in the 2009 National Science Foundation (NSF) International Science & Engineering Visualization Challenge.
The designs are highly conceptual and represent the ideas in a holistic and thorough manner. This requires in-depth research and self-education on the individual subjects, so as to figure out how to best depict the core concepts in a simple and easily comprehensible manner. Some projects have involved critique from science mentors. An exhibit describing the process involved in designing educational science art was held in NYC in 2010.
